60-acre fire threatening structures in South Bay (KRON) -- A fire in the South Bay has grown to 60 acres and is threatening multiple structures, Cal Fire said Wednesday. Forward progress on the fire has been stopped. The fire is at Clayton Road and Via de la Vista, which is east of San Jose. Fire officials reported the fire on Twitter at 2:56 p.m. Approximately 70 San Jose Fire Department personnel are at the scene and a unified command has been established with Cal Fire, according to SJFD. Man reported missing out of Oakley (KRON) -- The Oakley Police Department reported a man as missing. Michael Orr, 56, has not been seen since July 28. Orr lives in the Oakley/Antioch area and was reported missing by his family on the morning of July 28. He was last seen wearing a black hat, a black shirt, and dark-colored pants. Orr uses a cane to walk. Anyone who sees him or has information on his whereabouts is asked to call OPD at (925) 625-8060.

Human skeletal remains found near Fairfield creek (KRON) -- Human skeletal remains were discovered Thursday near a creek in a remote area of Fairfield, the Fairfield Police Department said. A member of the community found the remains and notified Fairfield PD. The person directed officers to the location of the remains. They appear to have been in the area for some time, police said. Man accused of holding woman in cinder block cell lived in Bay Area The remains appear to be those of an adult, police said, however, the gender of the decedent is unknown. There is no immediate indication of foul play, police said. Fairfield PD Investigations Division detectives will be working to identify the decedent and determine a cause of death.The investigation is ongoing, police said.

San Jose man accused of killing his roommate (KRON) -- The 2022 death of a San Jose man has been ruled a homicide, the San Jose Police Department said Thursday. David Gregg, 29, of San Jose has been arrested in connection with the death.Police said that on Oct. 22, 2022, Gregg punched his housemate several times in the face at their residence on the 3000 block of Florence Ave. Gregg fled the scene and the victim declined medical attention, police said. SJPD: 2 men stormed into San Jose poker game, stole $30,000 That night, a third housemate called police to say they found the victim on the ground after he appeared to fall down and hit his head on the edge of his bed frame. He was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. On Oct. 28, the victim died. Gregg was arrested on Nov. 11 in San Jose by the Santa Clara County Sheriff's office. Driver who tried to ram bicyclist with truck arrested for hate crimes (KRON) -- A driver who allegedly attempted to ram a bicyclist with his truck and shouted racial epithets Wednesday has been arrested and charged with hate crimes, according to the Novato Police Department. Novato PD patrol officers responded to a report of someone trying to hit a bicyclist with a truck.Officers located the victim near his home and interviewed him. The victim told police a man in a pickup truck approached him on Fourth Street and accused him of stealing his bicycle.
