Dozens of TikTok creators — some with millions of followers on the video-sharing app — came to Capitol Hill on Wednesday to lobby in favor of the platform, one day before lawmakers are slated to grill the company’s chief executive about concerns over user data falling into the hands of the Chinese government. Shou Zi Chew plans to tell Congress on Thursday that TikTok, which was founded by Chinese entrepreneurs, is committed to user safety, data protection and security, and keeping the platform free from Chinese government influence. A city administrator who has worked in Hinckley, Clara City, Columbia Heights and Inver Grove Heights has a new city to add to his résumé.Kyle Morell, Hinckley’s city administrator and city clerk since 2010, on Tuesday was appointed Scandia’s new city administrator. His first day on the job will be April 17.Before taking the job in Hinckley, population 1,930, Morell served as the city administrator in Clara City. Morell, 42, also previously worked as the administrative assistant for the public works department in Columbia Heights and was an administrative intern in Inver Grove Heights.Making the move to Scandia, which has a population of 4,000 people, “just felt like a good move at this time in my career,” Morell said. “I really like the community. MONTGOMERY COUNTY, N.Y.(NEWS10) - A Capital Region school district is taking steps to honor the indigenous culture and keep their name.The Fonda-Fultonville Central School District submitted a letter to the Board of Regents March 10 asking to keep their name, the Braves. As if Southern California hadn’t already seen enough wild weather since the start of the year, a possible tornado touched down in Montebello late Wednesday morning, damaging buildings.There were no reports of injuries.The funnel cloud was first spotted around 11:30 a.m. in the area of South Vail Street and Washington Boulevard. 4-Month-Old Baby Injured in DUI Crash near Baseline RoadBUCKEYE, AZ (March 22, 2023) – Thursday night, Jacob Willcutt was arrested following a DUI crash with a telephone pole that left him and a 4-month-old baby injured.The incident happened on March 9th, near the intersection of Miller Road and Baseline Road.According to reports, Willcutt was driving with his 4-month-old daughter strapped in front of him. Willcutt lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into a telephone pole, seriously injuring his child.After the crash, Willcutt and a bystander pushed the car out of the road and he dropped the baby off with a relative. Phoenix Children’s Hospital reported that the baby sustained a fractured skull as a result of the crash.Officers responded to the crash and administered a breathalyzer test.
