Friends of Crandall Public Library to host book sale GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Friends of Crandall Public Library are hosting a fall book sale on Friday, October 20, and Saturday, October 21. The book sale runs from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! Adult books cost $1 each. Books for kids and teens cost four for $1. Patrons are asked to bring their own bags.The book sale will be held in the Christine L. McDonald Community Room on the lower level of the library. (NEWS10) -- The New York State Cannabis Control Board has announced the opening of general applications for certain adult-use cannabis licenses. Applications for cultivator, processor, distributor, microbusiness and retail dispensary licenses will be available through New York Business Express starting October 4. 2 dead in wrong-way Tesla crash in Corona Two people died in a head-on crash on the 91 Freeway in Corona early Monday morning.A wrong-way driver behind the wheel of a Tesla Model 3 was reported headed east in westbound lanes at 12:10 a.m., and two minutes later, they crashed head-on into a Mitsubishi Lancer near the on-ramp for North Lincoln Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.Footage from the scene showed that both vehicles sustained burn damage, but the fires were extinguished by the time cameras arrived.While initially only one fatality was confirmed, CHP officials later clarified that both drivers were killed as a result of the crash. The two men have not been identified.No passengers were in the vehicles, and "alcohol and/or drugs are unknown factors at this time," the CHP said.All westbound lanes were closed for several hours, but they were reopened by 3:40 a.m.Any witnesses who may have observed the incident are encouraged to call the CHP at 951-637-8000.Nancy Fontan contributed to this report.

San Jose: Two children die, one injured after falling into swimming pool at residential daycare SAN JOSE — Two children were pronounced dead and another was injured after they fell into a swimming pool at a residential daycare center in San Jose’s Almaden neighborhood Monday morning, according to authorities.Police confirmed Monday morning that officers had assisted rescuers from San Jose fire with a welfare check on the 1000 block of Fleetwood Drive at 9:05 a.m. After officers were notified that minors had fallen into a swimming pool, medical personnel transported three children to a hospital in critical condition.Two of the children were pronounced dead at a hospital, police said. The third child was expected to survive.Police said officers would remain at the scene for a significant amount of time to investigate the incident.
