(The Hill) -- A woman was found dead after an “apparent bear encounter” near Yellowstone National Park in Montana on Saturday.The Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) said investigators confirmed grizzly bear tracks at the scene and said the investigation was ongoing. The woman was discovered on the Buttermilk Trail, an area about 8 miles west of West Yellowstone. U.S. Forest rangers of the Custer Gallatin National Forest issued an emergency closure of the area “for human safety.” “Bears can be found throughout Montana. In recent years, grizzly bear populations have expanded. People venturing into the outdoors should ‘Be Bear Aware,’” the department said in an update on the investigation before listing precautionary steps, including carrying bear spray, traveling in groups in daylight hours, avoiding carcass sites and making noises to alert bears to their presence. DENVER (KDVR) -- Some Colorado hikers were traversing through Castlewood Canyon State Park when one of them almost stepped on a rattlesnake, they said.Chelsea Chamberland told FOX31 in an email that her husband, Darren, almost stepped on the snake last Saturday around 9 a.m. on the Rim Rock trail."He definitely upset the snake because it immediately coiled up and started rattling," she said.The snake was in disguise, blending in well with its sandy surroundings on the path of the trail. AUSTIN (KXAN) — Whether your partner is prone to snoring or you need to wake up at 3 a.m. the next day, couples have plenty of reasons for sleeping in different beds at home.The nontraditional sleeping arrangement is described by experts as a "sleep divorce" and is more common than you might think.A new survey from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine shows 35% of respondents sleep in a different room from their partner consistently (15%) or occasionally (20%)."The question really is why do you have to sleep separately, what's going on with your bed partner," said American Academy of Sleep Medicine board member Dr. Fariha Abbasi-Feinberg. A St. Paul woman riding on the back of a Harley-Davidson was killed and the driver was injured after the motorcycle crashed into the back of a car on Interstate 94 in Minneapolis late Saturday, the State Patrol said.The crash happened on eastbound I-94 near Franklin Avenue just after 10:30 p.m., sending Jerry Lynn Phillips, 53, and 40-year-old Ann Elizabeth Warner to the pavement, the State Patrol said. They were not wearing helmets.Warner died at the scene, the State Patrol said, while Phillips, also of St. Paul, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Amtrak has released their latest scheduling updates amid current heat restrictions Canadian National (CN) has in place. A spokesperson from Amtrak says they've sought out several different solutions with CN and the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) due to restrictions that have caused significant delays. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! Beginning on Monday, the Adirondack will only operate between New York City and Saratoga Springs. Amtrak and NYSDOT plan to return to scheduled service in mid-September when CN is expected to lift heat restrictions, however, it is possible the heat restrictions could be lifted before then. A woman was found dead in Montana over the weekend after encountering a grizzly bear near Yellowstone National Park.The Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks said the woman’s body was recovered on the Buttermilk Trail, about eight miles west of West Yellowstone. Waffle Brothers restaurants closed two spots after the City and County of Denver seized the properties over unpaid taxes.Signs dated July 14 and posted at 700 E. 1st Ave. and 1707 Lafayette St. state the restaurant owed $27,643 in taxes.The posted notice said Waffle Brothers fell behind in taxes in October. A woman was struck and killed by a car in Huntington Beach late Sunday night. According to a news release from the Huntington Beach Police Department, officers responded to a traffic collision on Beach Boulevard north of Williams Drive around 11 p.m. The driver of a 2019 Hyundai Kona, only identified as an 18-year-old female from Upland, was driving northbound in the fast lane when she struck the pedestrian. Police say the pedestrian was outside of the crosswalk at the time. Gun allegedly brandished during South Los Angeles hit-and-run The victim was identified as a 34-year-old woman from Florida and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Police say the driver did not appear to be impaired.
