RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Police in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where a professor was fatally shot on a college campus this week, received information on the suspect’s identity within minutes of the gunfire, according to a recording of the 911 call. Some portions of the audio sound redacted, but what was released describes the first moments after Monday’s shooting of Associate Professor Zijie Yan inside a science building in the heart of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Police said they arrested Tailei Qi, 34, of Chapel Hill, without force off campus less than two hours after the shooting. Qi was charged early Tuesday with first-degree murder and a weapons count and jailed without bond. Yan was Qi’s faculty adviser and Qi worked with Yan’s research group.The attack and hours-long lockdown terrified students and faculty who returned last week for the start of the fall semester. CHICAGO — A child was among two people injured in a shooting Thursday afternoon in Chicago's Woodlawn neighborhood, according to police.The 4-year-old boy and a man, 22, were inside a car near 65th Place and Blackstone Avenue when they were shot. HARWOOD HEIGHTS, Ill. -- A 61-year-old woman remains in critical condition after being severely beaten and left lying in the middle of a Harwood Heights street Wednesday morning.According to the Harwood Heights Police Department, officers responded to a residential area across Wilbur Wright College on the 4400 block of North Natchez Avenue just after 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday on reports of a woman lying in the street.Upon arrival, officers discovered a 61-year-old woman severely beaten lying in the middle of Natchez Avenue who later was learned to be a victim of a car jacking. (The Hill) – The Defense Department on Thursday released a new website that will provide official declassified information on UFOs, including pictures and videos, for the public to easily parse through. The website is the official page for the public to interact with All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), a relatively new Pentagon office tasked with reviewing and analyzing UFOs. The site appears to be still under construction, but it can be found here. The Hill has reached out to the Defense Department for more information about when the website will go live. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Multiple first responders were on the scene of an incident near Thursday near The Arboretum in northwest Austin, the Austin Police Department and Austin-Travis County EMS confirmed on Twitter.Shortly after 5 p.m., APD, medics and the Austin Fire Department responded to the 10000 block of Research Boulevard service road in the southbound lanes for the incident.Although it was not immediately clear what the incident was or how it occurred, officials said there was no immediate threat to the public.This is a developing story.
