GREENE COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- According to Superintendent Michael Wetherbee, the Cairo-Durham Central School District middle and high schools will eliminate recess for the 2023-24 school year and shorten lunch times by one minute. Wetherbee explained to NEWS10 that all decision-makers felt the time used for recessed could be better utilized as a study hall to increase productivity, help students access teachers more easily, and maximize the use of their time in school. She on the other hand uses any coupon she can get her hands on. My car is filled with grocery store coupons and Kohl’s cash. So now when she sends me there to pick us stuff for her, she expects me to use the coupons, but I usually don’t and tell her I did. ST. LOUIS - The now-category four Hurricane Idalia is moving closer to Florida, and it's having some impacts at home. Organizations from the area are already preparing to help in its aftermath.Ten flights are cancelled right now and those are all Southwest flights heading into Florida. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. - Trying to make sure first responders are ready in case the St. Louis region is targeted in a major attack is the goal of the multi-day counterterrorism training taking place this week in the area.The St. Charles Convention Center is where a lot of the classroom training for this project is taking place. It started Tuesday and continues through Thursday.The training is being put on by the 'Readiness Lab.' That's a St. Charles group which trains agencies for various emergency situations. LOUIS - Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft won his latest legal fight over a proposed ballot initiative to restore abortion rights in the state.According to our partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Columbia Attorney Jeffrey Basinger filed a lawsuit in August of last year alleging that Ashcroft was illegally refusing to process the initiative. Basinger wanted it on the November 2024 ballot. Search for gunman after Ferguson police chief’s niece killed Ashcroft said he would not begin certifying the proposed constitutional amendment until after the November 2022 election.
