U.K. Chancellor Jeremy Hunt will pledge a “clean energy reset” next week, earmarking billions of pounds of investment for carbon capture technologies in his spring budget statement, while reaffirming government backing for the British nuclear sector. The government will invest £20 billion in carbon capture and storage over the next two decades, Hunt will say, arguing that the technology — which involves separating out carbon dioxide produced during industrial processes and storing it underground — will support the country’s transition to a net zero economy.Hunt will also set out more detail of how the U.K. plans to expand its nuclear sector, through promotion of “small modular reactors,” an emerging technology which ministers hope could deliver cheaper and safer nuclear power to the grid in the future. On Friday the U.K. signed a new energy cooperation agreement with France centered on the countries’ shared ambition to significantly expand their nuclear sectors in pursuit of...Dear Abby: Pal uses charity gifts to fund luxe lifestyle

Dear Abby: My friend’s house was severely damaged in a hurricane and she lost a lot of the contents. Mind you, she was one of the lucky ones. Others in her community lost everything. One of her friends started a GoFundMe account to help with repair costs, and it is now up to thousands of dollars. My problem with this is: She’s now on her third trip to Europe this year. She constantly spends money, has thousands of dollars in credit card debt and tells me she’s broke. Granted, two of the trips were partly funded by her partner. Normally, she would post details about her trips on social media, but this time she’s not. Instead, she’s posting pictures of her house construction and implying that she’s there.I’ve considered outing her on social media, but I decided against doing that. I just can’t get beyond what she’s doing and don’t think I can continue my friendship. Am I justified? — Full Disclosure in FloridaDear Full D...Woman found dead at friend's home in Pacific Beach

The GOP-dominated House last month passed a proposal including a ban on puberty-blocking medication and hormone therapy, with no exemptions for mental health.Republican Gov.
