He also took extensive infield practice and ran hard on the bases.Rodgers, 26, will travel with the Rockies to Houston and San Francisco next week and then report to Arizona for extended spring after the All-Star break.“I’m totally excited and I’m really looking forward to hitting,” Rodgers said.Manager Bud Black said that it’s possible that Rodgers, after he works his way into games in Arizona, and after finishing a minor-league rehab assignment, could return to the Rockies for games in August and September.“I think it’s important for him to play as much as possible, coming back for peace of mind and confidence, just so he can have as normal an offseason as possible,” Black said.Rodgers injured his shoulder during a...Sharks acquire forward from cap-strapped Panthers; Grier talks Karlsson, Couture, Hertl

The San Jose Sharks made one major move Saturday on the first day of NHL free agency but three-time Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson remained with the team – at least for the time being. The Sharks acquired Anthony Duclair from the Florida Panthers in exchange for center Steven Lorentz and a 2025 fifth-round draft pick.Duclair, who turns 28 in August, is entering the final year of a three-year, $9 million contract he signed with the Panthers in 2021. He is coming off a season in which he had nine points in 20 regular season games and 11 points in 20 playoff games as Florida advanced to the Stanley Cup Final. The addition of Duclair could fill a sizable hole in the Sharks’ top-six forward group that was left behind when 40-goal scorer Timo Meier was traded to New Jersey in February.“He’s someone who scored pretty consistently in the last few years of his career, and he’s shown that he can play with pace and play with good players and produce,” Grier said, R...2023 NBA free agency tracker: Donte DiVincenzo reportedly agrees to deal with Knicks

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — That trio of Texas infielders and the switch-hitting catcher selected as starters for the All-Star Game might not be the only Rangers players going to Seattle later this month. Their top pitcher could be joining them there. Nathan Eovaldi pitched seven scoreless innings to become the American League’s second 10-game winner, and each of those four position players voted in by the fans had a hand in runs as the AL West-leading Rangers beat the second-place Houston Astros 5-2 on Saturday. “I’ve seen him throughout my entire career. … Just a lot of different ways to attack hitters righty and lefty. And it’s hard to have an approach against him. And I know that from facing him,” All-Star second baseman Marcus Semien said of Eovaldi. “It’s been fun to play behind him because he works quick. He gets groundballs, gets out of innings with double plays. He gets strikeouts.”Eovaldi (10-3) struck out five and limited the Astros to two singles while working ar...Burnes takes perfect game into the sixth, Yelich homers as Brewers hold off Pirates 11-8
