Mayor Johnson attends first Chicago Police Department graduation ceremony CHICAGO — Three recent Chicago Police Department (CPD) recruit classes will be honored with a graduation ceremony Monday which Mayor Brandon Johnson plans to attend.The ceremony is being held for Recruit Classes 22-6, 22-7, and 22-8, and will also recognize "recently promoted command staff, sergeants, detectives, and field training officers," according to a release from CPD. 4 restaurants robbed within 30 minutes on North Side Also in attendance will be CPD Interim Superintendent Fred Waller.Johnson's campaign platform for public safety and police reforms included making "CPD more efficient" and "strengthening police accountability" among other efforts. WCSO responds to fatal Kingsbury motorcycle crash KINGSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to a fatal motorcycle crash in the town of Kingsbury on Thursday around 7:06 p.m. Deputies say 20-year-old Alex Vega, of South Glens Falls, was taken to Glens Falls Hospital and later succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. Suspicious death investigated near downtown Los Angeles bus stop The death of a man near a downtown Los Angeles bus stop is being described as suspicious by investigators Monday morning.The man's body was found on the ground near the Civic Center/Grand Park Metro Station at West 1st Street and North Hill Street around 10:40 p.m. Sunday night. A bus was also seen parked next to the bus stop but investigators said the man had not been on the bus. Early reports indicated the man may have suffered some kind of wound but investigators said they are still waiting for the Los Angeles County coroner to determine the cause of death. A man's death in downtown Los Angeles Sunday night is being described as suspicious by investigators. Vehicle flips, slams into LAFD station in Shadow Hills Two people were injured as the vehicle they were in slammed into the side of a Los Angeles Fire Department station in Shadow Hills Monday morning.The crash was reported just before 5:30 a.m. at LAFD Fire Station 77 at 9224 Sunland Blvd, the LAFD said in an alert.The two people in the car sustained "minor injuries" and refused transport to a local hospital, fire officials said.No one was hurt at the occupied station, and the building "sustained only superficial damage," according to the LAFD.Aerial footage from the scene showed a gray vehicle overturned in front of the station.The cause of the crash has not been released.
