NB Turnpike extension reopens in Miramar after tractor-trailer rollover crash

All northbound lanes on the Florida Turnpike extension in Miramar have reopened hours after a tractor-trailer rolled over, spilling fuel and construction materials over part of the highway. Miramar Fire Rescue and Florida Highway Patrol Troopers arrived at the scene, Friday afternoon. 7Skyforce hovered over the scene where the trailer lay on its side on the on-ramp of the Turnpike extension. No injuries were reported. Drivers were allowed to go around the 18-wheeler by going through the shoulder. As of 5 p.m., the truck was still blocking the ramp that goes from the Homestead extension coming eastbound to the Turnpike northbound.Crews were able to put the trailer back on its wheels as they attempt to tow it away. Road rangers diverted traffic near the intersection University Drive and 27th Avenue until crews removed the trailer and completed cleanup efforts.Northbound lanes were back open to traffic just before 6 p.m.New Hampshire man arrested for allegedly storming the Capitol on Jan. 6

Another alleged Jan. 6 Capitol rioter has been arrested in New England, according to the FBI.New Hampshire man Shawn D. Mahoney was arrested on Thursday for allegedly storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, as Congress counted the Electoral College votes to officially clinch the presidency for Joe Biden.Mahoney, of Bristol, N.H., was wearing a shirt that read “TRUMP PENCE” while he allegedly joined then-President Donald Trump supporters in the Capitol riot on Jan. 6.“Today, the #FBI arrested Shawn D. A dead infant was found in a Rochester recycling facility, according to the Plymouth District Attorney’s office.Rochester Police received a call at about 10:40 a.m. Thursday from the Zero Waste Solutions recycling center in Rochester in which the caller reported the remains of an infant were found in some trash sent to the facility for disposal.Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the Plymouth DA office have taken over the investigation, according to the office. TAHOE CITY, Calif. (AP) — A worker at a Lake Tahoe ski resort has died in a snowmobile accident during overnight snowmaking operations, authorities said. Officials at Palisades Tahoe said the crew member was killed early Thursday on the Alpine Meadows side of the resort west of Tahoe City. Brian Gimbert, 34, was riding a snowmobile at slow speed on undeveloped property south of Alpine Meadows’ main lodge, the California Highway Patrol said. He struck a rock that was partially buried under snow and was thrown from the vehicle, which then landed on him.Palisades employees found Gilbert around 6:30 a.m., according to CHP.They attempted life-saving measures and called 911. A 43-year-old man is facing a second-degree murder charge in connection with a fatal shooting last month in Mississauga.Peel police were called to the area of Goreway and Morningstar drives shortly after midnight on Oct. 29. When they arrived they found the body of 49-year-old Alton Fisher of Peterborough, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Sane Stewart of Toronto was arrested on Friday and charged with second-degree murder.Police said at the time this was a targeted shooting but have not elaborated on the relationship between the two men.Latest news
