Burbank Mayor Konstantine Anthony is facing criticism from largely conservative circles after he was recorded on video being spanked by a drag queen over the weekend, but he's defending his actions and arguing that some of those critics are responding out of anti-LGBTQ+ bigotry. In the video, Anthony can be seen getting spanked, a moment the clip shows synced to the Village People's "Macho Man."Comments on the video, which was posted by the Armenian-American podcast WiseNuts, largely disparaged Anthony and his decision to participate. For its part, the WiseNuts account added the hashtags "#beaman," "#clownshow" and "#embarrassing.""This is an excellent example of the humiliation a man will subject himself to in order to pander to the degenerate alphabet cult crowd. He debases the honor of elected office every time he appears in public," wrote James Clarke, a candidate for state Assembly."I'm so proud of our Mayor in Burbank. He achieved the maximum level of stupidity," added Alex Bad...Some California inflation relief checks still haven't been sent: Is yours missing?

While the vast majority of those eligible for the tax refund have long received what they are due, about 5,000 new payments are still being processed, the FTB told Nexstar. They should be processed by the end of the month, the agency said. Is it too late to claim your California inflation relief check? If you believe you're eligible, but haven't received your payment yet, the FTB first suggests you review the eligibility requirements and double check y...Woman accused of killing her roommate in Garden Grove

SANTA CLARA — Brandon Aiyuk joined Jerry Rice and Anquan Boldin as the only 49ers wide receivers to win an NFC Player of the Week award via a season-opening showcase.Aiyuk drew that career-first honor Wednesday for his spectacular showing in the 49ers’ 30-7 win Sunday at Pittsburgh. For more historical perspective on Aiyuk’s grand debut:— He caught eight passes for a career-high 129 yards and two touchdowns. A fierce San Jose City Hall debate this summer between business and labor interests that resulted in wage increases for thousands of municipal workers and avoided a major strike is now raising concerns over what the long-term financial impact of the pay bumps could portend. The salary hikes forced city councilmembers on Tuesday to make a meager $2.8 million in service cuts — trims that aren’t catastrophic but include a reduction in funding for a major city-run outdoor event. However, in the next five years, with the police and fire department unions preparing to renegotiate their contracts and a gloomy economic forecast, San Jose’s mayor says the city will soon have to slash the budget by around $10 million a year.“We’ve signed up for and committed ourselves to unsustainable raises over the next three years,” said Mayor Matt Mahan in an interview. “The spending is certain. The cuts are unknown.” Mahan said a projected downward trend in c...Adhering to court order, Pac-12 approves staff retention plan to stave off possible mass exodus

The Pac-12 presidents approved an employee retention-and-severance plan Tuesday designed to ensure the collapsing conference remains staffed to the level necessary to produce roughly 1,000 live events and meet contractual obligations to its media partners, according to a source with knowledge of the development. With 10 schools departing for other leagues next summer, executives are concerned that a mass exodus of conference employees could jeopardize the production of competitions worth more than $400 million in media rights revenue from ESPN, Fox and other partners. A significant decrease in staffing also could undermine the experience for thousands of Pac-12 athletes across all sports in 2023-24.All 12 presidents and chancellors signed off on the retention and severance plan but did not take a formal vote, per court order. On Monday, a Whitman County (Wash.) judge issued a temporary restraining order that prevents the Pac-12’s board of directors from meeting until the court d...Olivia Rodrigo brings Guts World Tour to Bay Area, Southern California
