Bills’ midseason defensive additions CB Douglas and DT Joseph have made an immediate impact ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Bills’ defense is banged up. What else is new?A few things, actually. The significant contributions made by cornerback Rasul Douglas and defensive tackle Linval Joseph a mere three weeks following their arrival haven’t gone unnoticed.“It’s pretty remarkable to be honest,” safety Micah Hyde said, referring to Douglas, who had two interceptions and recovered a fumble in a 32-6 win over the Jets on Sunday. “Midseason, coming in and learning the playbook and being able to go out there and not just know what he’s doing, but to play fast is pretty impressive.”And then there’s the 35-year-old Joseph, who has combined to play 79 snaps to stabilize the middle of Buffalo’s defensive front.“It’s huge. It’s huge,” Hyde said. “For them to come in and step in and give us a little boost, a little energy is cool.”It’s a boost the Bills (6-5) certainly needed after adding the veterans over a two-day span to reinforce a defense missing three starters.Rasul, ...

Bruins grind out 3-1 win over Florida The Florida Panthers went for a quick knockout on the Bruins on Wednesday but the B’s took their best shot, steadied their legs and came away with a hard-earned 3-1 victory at Amerant Bank Arena.Linus Ullmark (27 saves) was excellent early on and the B’s made a pair of second period goals hold up for the victory. The Panthers were without their Selke Award candidate Sasha Barkov but, considering the intensity with which the Panthers started the game, it was a very good win for the B’s after blowing a late lead and losing in Tampa on Monday. With Charlie McAvoy’s high, late hit on Oliver Ekman-Larson from October 30 still on their minds, the Panthers came out flying and physical, landing a couple of early hits on the B’s defenseman.Florida dominated the early going and, if not for Ullmark (15 first period saves), the B’s could have been chasing the game from the get-go.
