SAN DIEGO -- A man was killed Saturday in a shooting in the Chollas Creek neighborhood, authorities said.The gunfire occurred around 4:29 p.m. at Chollas Parkway and 54th Street, Lt. Jud Campbell with the San Diego Police Department said during a news conference.When officers arrived on scene, they were directed down to a ravine in the area, where they found a man who was down suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to police.The victim was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. ANTIOCH, Ill. — The Lake County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) is looking for a man who went missing while swimming in a lake found near the Wisconsin border Saturday afternoon.After conducting a preliminary investigation around 3:50 p.m., deputies said a 52-year-old man from Mount prospect jumped off of a pontoon boat, operated by his adult son, to swim in Lake Catherine. He briefly resurfaced before falling below the water's surface, and he has not been seen since.LCSO marine unit and area fire department boats have been searching the lake with sonar, but as of 9:41 p.m. Saturday, have not been able to find him. Nationwide, more than 7,000 people died in teen driving-related summertime crashes from 2010 to 2019, according to AAA. WACO, Texas (FOX 44/KWKT) -- The Cameron Park Zoo announced Saturday that Masai giraffe calf Zuri has died. She was the baby of Penelope, who died on Wednesday, July 19.The zoo says that after Penelope died, staff began hand-rearing Zuri. They started feeding her a milk formula and tried to get her to connect with a female reticulated giraffe, whose name is Jenny.Upon Zuri's death, an animal autopsy (necropsy) was completed to determine the exact caused of death. Cameron Park Zoo is having the results independently reviewed and says that will take several weeks.Zuri was born at the Cameron Park Zoo on June 23th at 5:10 a.m., weighing in at 156 pounds and measuring 6′ 7″.Her mom, Penelope, was born on May 9, 2013, and came to Cameron Park Zoo from the San Diego Zoo. Authorities need help identifying a man who was found seriously injured and lying on the 101 freeway in Ventura County on Friday.Officers responded to a man spotted lying on the northbound shoulder near the Central Avenue overcrossing around 11:05 p.m. Arriving officers found the unresponsive victim with serious facial and leg injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.The man was transported to the hospital but has yet to be identified, authorities said He's described as a possibly Black male between 15 to 25 years old.
