REDWOOD CITY — A Caltrain hit and killed a person near Whipple Avenue just after noon on Tuesday in Redwood City, according to the commuter rail line.The incident occurred at 12:30 p.m., when a person was struck by a southbound train carrying about 75 passengers. (BCN) -- A person was struck and killed Tuesday afternoon by a train passing through Redwood City, Caltrain officials said. Southbound Caltrain No. 116 struck the person at 12:30 p.m. near Whipple Avenue. Home Depot guard shoots suspected shoplifter in San Carlos The train stopped with about 75 people on board and no one else reported any injuries. (KRON) -- A man was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old child early Tuesday morning, according to the Napa County Sheriff's Office. Home Depot guard shoots suspected shoplifter in San Carlos Antonio Botella Verdin, 66, was arrested on suspicion of sexual intercourse or sodomy of a child age 10 or younger and oral copulation or sexual penetration of a child 10 years or younger. Verdin was booked into jail, and he is being held without bail. (BCN) -- Eight Bay Wheels bike share stations are now available for use in Golden Gate Park ahead of the Outside Lands music festival this weekend, San Francisco City Hall announced Monday. Bay Wheels opened four Classic Docked and four Virtual Corral bike share stations at key locations around the park on Monday, while another four stations will become available in the coming weeks, city officials said. Altogether, the five classic bike share stations and seven virtual stations stretch from east of the Conservatory of Flowers to the westernmost edge of the park near Ocean Beach. NEW YORK (AP) — Campbell Soup is set to buy Sovos Brands, the maker of Rao’s pasta sauces.In a Monday announcement, the two companies said they had entered an agreement for Campbell’s to acquire Sovos for $23 per share in cash — reflecting a total value of about $2.7 billion.
