Get Possessed at the Whisky

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 04:00:32 GMT

Get Possessed at the Whisky: Of all the bands that were a part of the original Bay Area thrash metal scene, Possessed were the most extreme, and the one that actually went on to influence countless death metal and even black metal bands. We have that to thank them for, as they prepare for this Whisky show. Dark as Death, GraveDanger, Disciples of Death, Exitosus, Crogol, and Putrescence also perform.Possessed has been on and off over the years, first forming in ’83 and breaking up in ’87 (Primus’ Larry LaLonde was the guitarist for most of that time), then active from ’90 to ’93, and finally reforming in 2007 and sticking it out.1985’s Seven Churches is their classic, while 2019’s Revelations of Oblivion is the third and most recent album.Back in 2019, Rob Cardenas of Possessed spoke to us about some of his greatest concert experiences: “Bolt Thrower touring Warmaster in Pomona needs to be mentioned. How about Metallica at the Troubado...
