Instagram users in Illinois could possibly receive part of a $68 million dollar payout from a class-action lawsuit settlement.The settlement stems from violations to Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act. ILLINOIS - Instagram has agreed to pay $68.5 million to settle a class-action lawsuit that accuses the company of violating privacy laws within Illinois.The lawsuit alleges that the social media platform violated Illinois law, specifically the state’s Biometric Information Privacy Act, by “collecting and storing biometric identifiers and/or biometric information... without complying with BIPA’s requirements.”The settlement means that a share of $68.5 million will be available to certain Illinois residents. Not just for good business, but more importantly, for an important cause.The restaurant is hosting a Dine & Donate event to support a wounded Hermann police officer.Adam Sullentrup, 31, was critically injured when he and his partner, Det. Sgt. Mason Griffith, were shot while trying to arrest a suspect at a convenience store the evening of March 12. Griffith did not survive.Sullentrup is now being treated at a specialized facility in Inglewood, Colorado. Michelle Sullentrup says her husband is making great progress, and that he recently walked around a lake and had a picnic.
